Saturday, October 3, from 10 AM–6 PM. Join augzoo us for History Surrounds, a free public celebration of Austin history, community, music, and augmented reality at Wooldridge Square.
Bring a picnic and spend the day exploring one of downtown Austin’s most historic spaces through immersive augmented reality experiences, oral histories, historical interpretation, and live music. Throughout the day, visitors can discover the stories of the Block 101 churches, the Woman Suffrage Movement and rallies held at Wooldridge Square, and Austin’s music and cultural history, including the iconic armadillo imagery of legendary artist Jim Franklin

Live Music Featuring
- Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Choir
- Christopher D. Spivey & Company Gospel Choir
- Mostly Dead, performing two Shiva’s Headband songs and period music from the late 1960s and early 1970s
Live docents will be available throughout the October 3 event to help visitors experience History Surrounds using iPads and guide guests through the augmented reality experience. Video walkthroughs will also help make the experience accessible to visitors who cannot physically explore the entire park.
augzoo is leading History Surrounds in collaboration with Friends of Wooldridge Square and the Austin History Center, bringing together historical research, community oral histories, archival materials, digital media, and new augmented reality technology.
