augzoo® Debuts AR Innovation for National Voter Registration Day

On September 16, 2025, augzoo® is partnering with El Concilio de East Austin to launch a groundbreaking use of hyperlink-enabled augmented reality (AR) — designed not only to educate first-time voters but also to register them instantly.

Through the free augzoo® iOS app, users can:

Interact with a simulated Travis County voting machine in AR.
Practice polling questions in English and Spanish.
Click the National Voter Registration Day logo to go directly to the official voter registration portal.
Click the El Concilio logo to be directed to a dedicated registration URL.

This marks one of the first times AR has been used to both educate and register voters simultaneously, creating an immediate bridge between learning the process and taking civic action.

Community events include:

9:30 a.m. National Voter Registration Day Breakfast at Taqueria Chapala with guest speaker Celia Israel.
4:00 p.m. Voter registration sites at Plaza Saltillo and Villas on Sixth.

National Voter Registration Day AR Event — El Concilio de East Austin’s National Voter Registration Day Event

This project was originally seeded in Spring 2022 through a grant from the Texas Immersive Institute Hackathon. While initial outreach to 40 Texas Election Administrators proved difficult given the political climate, El Concilio de East Austin recognized the value of this work in 2024 and has now partnered with augzoo® in 2025 to bring it to life.
