🦕 augzoo Receives City of Austin Nexus Grant for Bilingual Dinosaurs

We’re excited to announce that augzoo® has been awarded a Nexus Grant from the City of Austin’s Cultural Arts Division to support our newest immersive storytelling project: Bilingual Dinosaurs.

Set in the prehistoric terrain of Big Bend, Bilingual Dinosaurs is an augmented reality experience that invites audiences to imagine what it might have been like to be a bilingual dinosaur 70 million years ago. Blending science, culture, and imagination, the project explores themes of migration, climate change, identity, and survival—bridging past and present through community voices and creative technology.

This grant also supports field testing of augzoo’s new Storyboard tool and furthers our Overland Method: a hands-on R&D approach that evolves through creative collaboration and real-world experimentation.

We’re grateful to the City of Austin’s Cultural Arts Division, whose Nexus program uplifts emerging creatives and expands access to cultural experiences. Nexus is part of a broader cultural funding initiative supported by the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT), designed to promote equity through seed funding and investment in Austin’s diverse creative sector.

Stay tuned as we invite local artists, educators, and cultural leaders to help us bring these bilingual dinos to life!
